  2. 1. The Statue of Liberty is a popular neoclassical sculpture located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The sculpture was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States. 2. The statue of Liberty was designed by-Frederic Auguste Bartholdi a French sculptor while its metal framework was built by-Gustave Eiffel. 3. The Statue of Liberty replicates the figure of Libertas-a robed Roman liberty goddess. The statue holds a torch just above her head in her right hand and in her left hand, the statue carries a tabula-ansata.
