  1. Tie Rod Upgrade-Safety is Necessary Safety is considered to be the single most crucial factor we at Source Automotive consider when working on your rig especially when undertaking any type of modification project. Any changes need to be looked at carefully in order to see the interplay of the entire modification and how it will affect the other components of the system on which is being worked on. The planned modification itself needs to be viewed closely to see it will meet your standards and perform as you anticipate it will. When it comes to tie rods they were mainly used by early trucks especially from 1932 to 1959. These tie rods mainly consisted of five independent parts contained in the housing. The parts include spring, seat, end plug and safety plug. Caps generally surround the ball unions and also are held firmly in place with the spring tension exerted by screwing down on the end cap. The main problems with a tie rod is its durability and strength. Both of these issues are directly affected by the foam seal which generally doesn't last long. When that seal fails it allows water, dirt and road grime to enter the housing. Which in turn causes fouling, scoring, rusting and general tie rod failure. As far as a Tie Rod Upgrade is concerned, anyone can do it easily if they have the basic tools. Look in to it on the web.
