  5. Annamary Consalvo • Carried out in YA Lit  Fall 2012: Special Projects Grant: Academic Programming to Enhance a Global Perspective, Fitchburg State University - $500. Young Adult literature book club books to support diverse perspectives. • Carried out in Intro to Sec. School Teaching Fall 2012: Innovation Grant, Center for Teaching and Learning, Fitchburg State University - $1,000. Professional development book clubs: Rigor and caring in secondary writing and reading instruction.   • Travel undertaken in Nov. 2012 --Special Projects Grant: Travel, Fitchburg State University - $700.  To present THREE papers at Literacy Research Association Conference, 2012, San Diego.

  19. Analysis of Unit-wide Data • There had been discussion last year about the possibility of raising the benchmark above 90%, perhaps 92%. However, we determined that if we continue to look at lowest mean there is no need to raise the benchmark

  21. NCATE Preparation • Preparing the Unit • Group work on each standard • Understand the comprehensive nature of the assessment system, particularly in the keeping of data from off campus programs

  22. Analysis of Data of the Fairness of Assessment System • Need to go back to inter-rater reliability and calibration activities • Discussion to begin modular training on Blackboard • We need exemplar key assessments • Need consistency with uploading data in TK20

Future Work Goals for 2013-2014 • Better compliance with Tk20 • Train adjuncts on Tk20 • Get Extended Campus Partners using Tk20 • Include adjunct and extended campus in examination of grad data • Work on calibration of all groups including mentor teachers • Constituents examine at data • Look at TPA to view potential impact on our programs

  24. Future Work Tasks for 2013-2014 • Plan data meetings for constituents • Finish the calibration modules on Bb with Mike Leamy. Set this up in 2013-14 for implementation in 2014-15 • Review IR and do what we said we would do. Plan those tasks.

Fingerprinting Legislation Implementing Fall 2013 • Current employees have 3 years to submit their fingerprints • Includes anyone working/volunteering in a school, school related transportation and subcontractors/laborers who work on school grounds.  • Fees - one time fee from $35 to $55. May increase over time. • Process for obtaining fingerprints still has not been determined "The regulations may reflect a phased-in schedule for finger-print based background checks, provided, however, that such phase-in shall not begin prior to September. 1, 2013. ”

Pre-Practicum Procedures at McKay Arts Forward any courses with a pre-practicum component to Jason Miles with expected number of students, number of hours, and packet of paperwork (forms, etc.) to jmiles6@fitchburgstate.eduby August 15. Dan will create a block schedule for candidates to sign up. Jason will forward this by September 4. Return the sign up sheets to Jason by Sept 13. If you have students schedules that change at all, forward the updated schedule to Jason by Friday prior to the upcoming week. If you have existing relationships with Supervising Practitioners, we will continue to maintain and support those relationships. We hope to create more established relationships between faculty and supervising practitioners.

What We Found • Based on the identified measures, improvement in the area has been seen. • Student Exit Surveys, however, indicate both graduate and undergraduate candidates express concern regarding the use of IEP’s to plan strategies for integrating students with disabilities into the classroom. • The committee will work to close the perception disparity between faculty and candidates in this area.

  49. Actions to be Taken • Develop a strategy to bring consistency to the collection of pre and post data from diversity courses and activities. • In our Strategic Plan and Academic Plan, there are multiple strategies for creating a “Culture of Diversity.”
