  7. Bollène is located in an underprivileged area that is characterized by a high unemployment rate, in spite of its touristic attractiveness. Most of our students come from disadvantaged social backgrounds, as almost 40 % of the parents are either from the working-class or unemployed, and a lot of the children are from the first or the second generation of immigrants coming from Africa or Eastern countries. In addition to all that, the school is situated in a rural zone, that’s why we are eager to develop European projects in order to open our students’ minds to other European countries, cultures, and languages, and to contribute to a more unified European Union, without any distrust or prejudices. Given the economic plight in which many of our pupils are, we aim at giving them additional chances to succeed in their lives and to have a more positive vision of their future. That’s why we came up with the idea of this project, because we think pupils need to develop the idea of self-employment. This project will enable our students to gain autonomy and self-confidence and to acquire the skills to meet the challenges of their future careers. Our involvement in the project will be as deep as our partner’s throughout the whole project, since the exchange of information on how to run business is the core of the project. We will be in charge of specific tasks, such as the organization of an ad contest and setting up a forum with local businessmen during the partner school’s visits in our town.
