  1. Instructions In this branching template the learner is presented with a challenging situation. The learner will have to pick one possible solution which will lead him or her to a unique path. Feedback is a very important element in branching scenarios. This is where you infuse your answers with all the theories that normally you would present in the beginning of a linear presentation. How To Create a Branching Scenario

  2. 2 Meredith and two colleagues submitted a report that received favorable feedback from their manager. Meredith talks to their manager and says that she ended up doing most of the work on the report and that she is glad that it was well-received. Meredith’s manager knows that the other two writers worked equally hard on the report. What should he say to Meredith? Tell her that he knows that her colleagues also worked hard on the report and that she should not try to take credit for other people’s work. Say nothing because he knows the reality of the situation so what does it matter if Meredith has an inflated view of herself? Thank Meredith for her work on the report and say that he is pleased with how hard all three writers worked on the project. Give Meredith a difficult, solo, project for her next assignment so that she will not have to compete with anyone else for credit. Select the appropriate option.

Say nothing because he knows the reality of the situation so what does it matter if Meredith has an inflated view of herself? Feedback This is not the best response because it is likely to cause conflict with Meredith. Thank Meredith for her work on the report and say that he is pleased with how hard all three writers worked on the project. Give Meredith a difficult, solo, project for her next assignment so that she will not have to compete with anyone else for credit. Try Again

Say nothing because he knows the reality of the situation so what does it matter if Meredith has an inflated view of herself? Feedback This is not the best response because it encourages Meredith’s self-serving behavior. Thank Meredith for her work on the report and say that he is pleased with how hard all three writers worked on the project. Give Meredith a difficult, solo, project for her next assignment so that she will not have to compete with anyone else for credit. Try Again

Thank Meredith for her work on the report and say that he is pleased with how hard all three writers worked on the project. Give Meredith a difficult, solo, project for her next assignment so that she will not have to compete with anyone else for credit. Feedback This is the best response because it acknowledges Meredith’s hard work without letting her take all the credit. Next

Give Meredith a difficult, solo, project for her next assignment so that she will not have to compete with anyone else for credit. Feedback This is not an effective response because it does not allow Meredith to learn to be a team player. Try Again

  7. More Information More Information Difficult people may not know that they are difficult and may find it hard to change, which can be very frustrating for co-workers. Remember to keep calm in any encounter with a difficult person and do not let the difficult person draw you into their way of thinking. Try not to get drawn into conflicts or petty discussions. If all else fails, agree to disagree – not everyone in a workplace will see things or approach problems in the same way, but people can still learn to treat each other with respect and understanding.
