  1. The Glory to be Revealed descriptions of Heaven in the words of Christ and His inspired writers

  2. Introduction • What will life after death be like for the faithful? • man has devised many ideas of what Heaven is like, from worldly hopes to blasphemous religious doctrines • “Christianity” is not immune to this curious fascination, as evidenced by the religious best-seller lists • problem is, not one man, woman, or child is themselves qualified to give a description of Heaven (1 Cor. 2:9), not even if caught up into Paradise! (2 Cor. 12:3-4)

  3. Introduction • among men, only Jesus can speak definitively and clearly about Heaven! (Jn. 8:38, 56-58) • and He also gave the authority and knowledge to speak of such things to the authors of the gospel (1 Cor. 2:10, 13) • so, when it comes to those things that we hope for, and persuade others towards, what does the Bible really say?

  4. First Principles • Heaven is real (Mk. 16:9)(Acts 7:55-56) • Heaven is eternal (1 Thess. 4:17)(2 Cor. 5:1) • Heaven is the reward for diligent faith (Heb. 11:6) • Christ has prepared Heaven as our eternal home, and it is through Him we find it (Jn. 14:1-6)

  5. “Physical” Description • keeping in mind that Revelation is symbolic • the throne room of God (Rev. 4-5) • depicting the glory, honor, and power of God and His worthiness of receiving worship • a place of eternal comfort (Rev. 21:1-22:5) • Heaven will be perfect and complete in every way, including the eternal presence and service to God (22:3)

  6. Provide for Longings • sacrifices of the faithful rewarded (2 Cor. 4:16-18) • to be in the presence of Christ (2 Cor. 5:6-8)(Phil. 1:23) • to put on spiritual body (2 Cor. 5:1-5)(1 Cor. 15:42-44, 50) • to have rest and peace (Heb. 4:1)(Mt. 5:3-10)(Rev. 21:4) • to have an eternal family (Mk. 10:29-30)(1 Thess. 4:13-18) • escape from sin and death (2 Pet. 3:10-13)(Rev. 21:8, 27)

  7. Are You Prepared For Heaven? • must be deliberately sought by faithful obedience (Mt. 7:13-14), and a love for the truth (7:21-23) • a child of God can fall short of the promise if not careful (Heb. 4:11)(Phil. 3:12-14) • however, Heaven is attainable for anyone willing to take up their cross and follow Christ!
