  7. 使用教科書基本考慮 • 教科書雖是歷史課的基本教材，但不應被視為唯一的學與教資源。不論課本內容編寫得怎樣好，單憑教科書並不足以達到有效學習的要求。 • 教科書應視為學習工具，而非課程的本身。教師應以自己專業知識挑選、刪減或豐富課文內容及學與教活動，以落實課程宗旨、目標及達至學習成果。沒有一套教科書能滿足所有學校或學生的需要，教師須根據學生的能力與需要調整其中的內容。 • 教科書一般無法完全令學生掌握核心概念及促進探究。理想的教學法是利用教科書作為資料的來源，而不是藉教科書向學生灌輸知識。 • 較理想的做法是由教師參考不同系列的教科書，然後讓學生知道不同作者對同一課題的不同處理方法，以闡明在某種程度上歷史研習就是對資料的詮釋。
