Coastal Learning Project • Running from April 2006 – March 2008 • Information, Advice & Support on learning and work for adults with a particular focus on the 45s and over • To create learning opportunities for eligible persons over the age of 16 yrs (out of statutory education) • Financial Assistance to support learning opportunities, travel and childcare either as an individual or as part of an organised group DonkinITEX

Who were our beneficiaries ? • 179 people based in Skegness and Mablethorpe who wanted support to develop their skills and/or gain employment • 128 of the people were helped with skills development • 51 of the people were over 45 and looking for support to find work – some of this support was via training.

What sort of Skills Development? • Short ‘Vocational’ courses (e.g. Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, First Aid) • Mentor Training • Basic IT Training • Literacy training • Confidence Building and CV workshops • Dyslexia Support • Taster courses (e.g. Nail Art, e-bay, Silk Painting, Sugar Craft etc)

  8. What is the impact of the project ? • We have found that at least 33 of our beneficiaries have secured employment • 88 of our beneficiaries have gained qualifications by attending a course funded by the project • 55 of our beneficiaries have progressed to other accredited training programmes • 178 of our 179 beneficiaries completed their programme of support.

  12. What next ? This project has been instrumental in raising the profile of learning on the coast. When the project started learning facilities in Skegness and Mablethorpe were scarce … now we have …
