Board of Education long term goal • Fairfield Public Schools will ensure that every student is engaged in a rigorous learning experience that recognizes and values the individual and challenges each student to achieve academic progress including expressive, personal, physical, civic, and social development. Students will be respectful, ethical, and responsible citizens with an appreciation and understanding of global issues. Student achievement and performance shall rank among the best in the state and the nation.

PTA, Health updates and School improvements • Mrs. Suzee Meehan– president • Mrs. Denise Gilbane RN • ---------------------------------------------------------------- • Hallways painted • Ramp in the annex repaired • Projectors installed in the ceilings • New computer monitors installed • Mural completed, funded by the PTA

Safety and Security • Lock down drills will be held 3 times during the year, with police presence and evaluation at least once • Our first lockdown drill will be Friday, September 5th followed by our town meeting to discuss school safety • Fire drills are given monthly, with at least one with fire department presence and evaluation • Additional security updates to the building are in the works…stay tuned • DOGS, Dad’s on Guard, will be implemented in the future • PTA safet subcommittee will be holding personal safety drills throughout the year

  10. PTA Funding • The following are the programs the PTA funded in the 2014-15 school year. NONE of this would be possible without your support. • Walk –a - thon • Halloween Dance • Movie Night • Bingo Night • Family Picnic Spring Fair • Art in the Classroom • Native American Day in Third Grade

School Policy Update • All visitors MUST alert the classroom teacher in order to be put on our daily visitor list and then sign in at the office and wear a visitors badge • Volunteers must sign a sex offender form and wear a volunteer badge available in the main office, forms are available on the back table • Please turn off cell phones when entering the building • Visiting for lunch allowed for birthdays only – no outside food in identifiable packaging or siblings • Parties: only milk, water, or 100% fruit juice, 1 sweet treat, and healthy snacks OR as determined by the classroom teacher • No outside cleaning products are allowed • Bullying is never allowed. Anonymous reporting can be done by utilizing the drop box in the Library Learning Commons
