‘Sukhad Yatra’ App to Ease the Highway Journeys’ in India

Sukhad Yatra is an app launched by Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways in view of a better tomorrow for all the road users. One out of the several user-friendly features includes real-time updates on the waiting time at toll plazas and toll fee. These updates reach user through text messages on their phone linked to the application. To add to the commuter empowerment, he has also launched a highway emergency toll-free number-1033<br>

  1. ‘Sukhad Yatra’ App to Ease the Highway Journeys’ in India Union minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari has launched a new mobile application ‘Sukhad Yatra’ for users who frequently use highways for commuting. This new application offers road travelers, real-time SMS updates on expected waiting time at all toll plazas and toll fee when they hit the national highways. This app has been perceived amazingly by the audience since its launch on 7th of March 2018. 40,000 new users have been added and ratings have increased from 3.5 to 3.9 and the number is gradually increasing by 250 users every hour. Launching Sukhad yatra app empowered the commuters to share their experience and help the road ministry improve public services on national highways. Important features of Sukhad yatra mobile app;        Complaints and grievances about the FASTag facility. Complaints against toll plaza management. Issues concerning the potholes and other maintenance issues. Safety hazard during road construction along highways across India. Poor workmanship of construction. Online recharge FASTag cards. Locating point of interests including restaurants, petrol pumps on highways and restrooms. Report accidents and other highway emergencies Real-time data of toll plaza    This app is available both on iOS and Google play store and is free to download. Since the new government formation in 2014, the government has enrolled a number of mobile- based apps and this is the first app that focuses on safety and development of Indian roads and highways. Furthermore, in order to promote road safety, the ministry has also announced assistance up to Rs. 5 lakh will be provided to NGO or Cooperative societies and other agencies for administering road safety program. Honorable Minister of Road Transport, Shri Nitin Gadkari has also launched a new toll-free emergency number 1033 for availing any kind of assistance on the national highways across India. This number includes multi-lingual support and user location tracking features to offer accurate and responsive complaint resolution.
