  3. Apply Ice to Control Swelling A slight swelling may occur after crown lengthening surgery. The patient should apply ice wrapped in a soft towel on the affected area and keep the head elevated while sleeping. This will help minimize swelling from the face.

  4. Take Your Pain Medications on Time Your periodontist will recommend some medications to help alleviate the pain. Make sure to take them on time. The medications will include a pain reliever and antibiotic. These medications will help reduce the tooth pain and prevent infection.
