Use Facebook Responsibly!

  • Remember: Everything you post is PUBLIC information, and searchable
    • There are security settings, but they are a bit tricky
  • DON’T post that you are on vacation – people who see your post will know you home is empty
  • DON’T post anything you wouldn’t want on the 6 o’clock news
  • Be cautious of the personal information you post
  • Be cautions of “location services” – do you really want people to know where you are?
slide39

&

Summary

  • Facebook provides your club with an online presence, one that reaches a broad audience (recruitment)
  • Instantaneous communication and promotion
    • When you post it, people who “like” your page receive it immediately
  • Volunteers will find your postings and join your service projects
  • Higher revenues for fundraisers by increasing awareness and by offering another marketing channel
  • Heightened awareness of Zone and District activities
    • Strengthens our district as a whole
