  1. You will be making a box in the style of the Bronze Vessels. You will be using texture plates, carving and adding clay to decorate your box. Animal, nature, and/or geometric forms must influence your designs. Your box must have a lid with a handle.Think About: What will your box hold?

Chinese Bronze Vessels • Ting vessels of the Shang Dynasty were used in various ceremonies, especially funerals • These vessels were designed o hold something of value • The designs were based on animal and geometric forms • Some designs show a symmetrical human mask, Late Shang designers used zoomorphic motifs with quadruped reptiles, birds, and insects

Go to chicopee.wikispaces.com/Bronze Vessels • Print out 2-3 Bronze Vessels that you like • Sketch out the shape of your box on the sketch paper • Include the designs you will be adding to it (take ideas from the print outs) • Remember your box must have a lid and a handle • Think About: What will your box hold?
