Innovative Electronics Upgrade for ME1/1 Chambers in SLHC

The OSU CMS Group has spearheaded a cutting-edge upgrade for the ME1/1 chambers, featuring a flash-ADC for each strip with digital storage, aimed at replacing outdated electronics with a deadtimeless solution. This upgrade addresses challenges related to high-rate operations, specifically at SLHC rates, by integrating 504 DCFEBs, along with contributions from multiple institutions including NE, UCSB, TAMU, and UCLA. The prototype, featuring an 18-layer analog-digital board, is set to enhance performance during the LHC’s upcoming 7TeV to 14TeV shutdown.
