Classroom Rules • Enter the classroom prepared to learn (physically and mentally)…with textbook, paper, pencil, calculator/laptop computer…) • 1st Offense – verbal warning and may/may not be able to borrow from another classmate or from Mr. Dyer. • 2nd , 3rd… Offense – detention (length varies), not be able to borrow from anyone.

  3. Classroom Rules • If you forget to bring your laptop to class, you will be only allowed to use pencil, paper, and textbook to complete your work for that day. • Be responsible and take care of your textbook (cover on it) and laptop computer. • Any misuse of your laptop during class will result in: (a minimum of losing it for the reminder of the class period). Laptop policies will also apply. • No Music on laptops during instruction time.

  4. Classroom Rules • Mr. Dyer’s Laptop Computer/Equipment – Do not touch or mess with any of my equipment unless you have been given permission from me. • Leave cords, cables,…alone!

  5. Classroom Rules • Respect the classroom. • Includes graffiti on the desks • If caught you will be cleaning desks/detention/both

  6. Classroom Rules • Respect your teachers and classmates • Golden Rule – Treat others how you would like to be treated!

  7. Classroom Rules • Use of profanity or any other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. • If you think that maybe you shouldn’t say something or do something, then don’t say or do it. • Consequences – from student handbook

  8. Classroom Procedure • Create a positive learning environment! • If you are having a bad day, try to leave it at the door, a negative attitude is detrimental to your academic success.

  9. Classroom Procedure • Use Common Sense! • If you do not have any to use, we will work on it!

Classroom Procedure • Restroom/Drink (water only) – In between classes is fine as long as you get into the classroom before the tardy bell rings. • You may/may not be able to get a RR/Drink during the last 15 minutes of class...on an individual basis. • You will need to have a signed pass from Mr. Dyer to use RR/Drink during class time.

  11. Classroom Procedures • Calculators – must stay in the classroom, unless permission is granted from Mr. Dyer to do otherwise. • If you have to borrow a pencil…from Mr. Dyer you will need to leave some type of collateral in trade! (money is always encouraged!)

  12. State Math Assessment(7th, 8th, 11th grade) • The State Math assessment that you will be taking this spring is going to be emphasized when being taught and critical to your success in this class. • The goal for each student should be to achieve a score of Proficient or Advanced for the State Math assessment. • Your State Math test score in the spring will count towards 5% of your 2nd semester grade.

  13. Grading Scale – student handbook • A (94 - 100) • B (86 - 93) • C (77 – 85) • D (70 – 76) • F (below 70)

Grading Procedure • All grades are figured using a points system • Semester exams are worth about 250 pts. • Most chapter exams are worth 100 pts. • Quizzes (assessments) may vary from 10 – 50 pts. • Homework may vary from 5 – 20 pts. • To determine Grade - • (total pts earned/total pts possible)

  15. Grading Procedure • Example of a Grade • If a student earns 400 out of a possible 500 points then there grade is a 80%. 400/500 = .80 = 80%

  16. Late Homework Policy If you fail to turn in an assignment on time you will be assigned to the ACCESS program. The late assignment will then be entered into the grade book as a “0”. You will have up to one week from when the assignment was due to get it completed and turned in to receive partial credit back. Stay on top of your school work and don’t waste class time.
