  3. Clinical Quality WG Improving the Quality of care is a cornerstone of HITECH • Clinical Quality Measures • “people respect what we inspect” • Clinical Decision Support • Processes, Products, or People that improve clinical quality

  4. What we need • CQMs need to be defined in a standard way so that EHRs can understand: • Data elements required for capture • Inclusion and exclusion criteria • CQMs and CDS interventions both need: • Well defined & harmonized value sets

  5. Questions that the WG will address • What are the appropriate standards for value set definition & sharing? • What entities/ processes should be used to maintain & validate eMeasures & Value sets? • How should this work be aligned with Clinical Decision Support – which has nearly identical depenencies on value sets.

  6. Questions that the WG will address • What standard(s) should be used for the definition of eMeasures? • What standard(s) should be used for the extraction and export of data for eMeasure computation? • What are the technical criteria by which eMeasures should be judged as “good” or “bad?” • How (and by whom?) should eMeasures be maintained, shared and delivered?

  7. Next Steps • Kick off a re-formulated Clinical Quality workgroup by 2/1/2012 • Align with the HITPC quality WG. • First report of this WG will be in made at the HITSC meeting in February.
