  8. ITC China Current Status • Wave 1 • Weighted dataset ready • ITC China W1 Technical Report (nearly ready) • Wave 2 • a. Survey Fieldwork: Completed in 6 cities; Zhengzhou will finish shortly • b. Cigarette Repository: Completed • c. Biomarkers Pilot Study in Beijing: Collected 40 out of 50 samples of saliva and cigarette butts • Wave 3 • a. Survey Development: started Feb 2008 8

ITC China Challenges • No direct communication with city CDCs • Two training levels: a) China CDC+City CDC officials; b) City training of JWH and survey interviewers – may vary from city to city • City’s organizational structure, e.g. new replacement and training of JWH officers and interviewers after 2/3 of W2 fieldwork • Sampling: lost of JWH due to redevelopment; lost of recontacts due to work in other cities 9

  10. ITC China Funding • Sources of Funding (2008-2012): • 1/3 NCI-NIH +1/3 CIHR +1/3 Chinese Government • 2007/08 – Wave 2 (near fieldwork completion/begin of data entry ) • 2008/09 – Wave 3 • 2009/10 – Wave 4 • 2011/12 – Wave 5 • 2012/13 – Wave 6 10
