Current status – (2) Constraints • Inadequate capacities for management, training, supervision and monitoring • Poor quality of TB laboratory system • Lack of national guidelines on MDR TB management • Insufficient TB surveillance, including MDR surveillance • Insufficient coordination among health sectors Challenges • Growing HIV/AIDS and MDR TB epidemic • Expansion of the revised strategy • Improvement of treatment outcome results • Integration and sustainability

  3. Priorities for intensified support • Capacity building for supervision and monitoring • Human resources development • National policy development and sustainability • Strengthening control of MDR TB and TB/HIV • Assistance in expansion of the developed strategy • Strengthening of laboratory

Lessons of partnershipCommon goals – common achievements • The High Level Working Group and ICC have proved to be an effective mechanism – replicable model • Partnership is essential to achieve and build up consensus and progress • An open dialogue should be established with national authorities – top level commitment is necessary • Joint development of plans, priorities and strategies • Integration and cooperation of TB and HIV sectors
