  1. Torque Controlled Dies with Twist Transfer MSC.Marc 2005r2 MSC.Patran 2005r2 Estimated Time for Completion: 5 minutes Experience Level: Higher

  2. Topics Covered • 2D solid elements using Hybrid(Herrmann)/Reduced Integration • 1D spring element • Mooney-Rivlin material model • Deformable contact • Rigid body contact with Force/Moment control • Rigid body contact with Velocity control using non-spatial field • Multiple-step analysis • Large displacement / Small strains

  3. Problem Description • Rotation motion (twist) is prescribed on a rigid drive pulley. This twist is transferred to another rigid pulley driven by an elastic belt. The drive pulley first translates to stretch the belt then rotates with a constant rotational velocity. The driven pulley is constrained by a torsional spring, where its rotational velocity is dependent on the spring stiffness and friction.

  4. Summary of Model Analysis Type: Time-dependent statics Large displacements / Small strains Analysis consists of 2 steps: pretension step rotation step Deformable contact on belt Mooney-Rivlin material model Fixed in translations Spring element Rigid body contact on driven pulley with Force/Moment control Rigid body contact on drive pulley with Velocity control using time field
