  1. Melt Flow Indexer- A Valuable Tool The Melt Flow Indexer is one of the most advanced devices available that is for the measurement of the melt characteristics of the thermoplastic polymers, melt-flow- indexer. To understand the melt flow, it is a key indicator for the producers, converters, and processors of plastic materials as it commands the pressures and temperatures required to manufacture the top and consistent quality products. The real barrel temperature can be measured using melt flow indexer to ensure that every examination is performed with the complete compliance full test documentation. It performs different types of tests such as MFI/MFR, Melt Density, Melt Volume Rate, Melts Viscosity, Shear Stress/Rate, and Spread values.

  2. The sample that is going to be tested should be ‘meltable’ so as to be evaluated using the Melt Flow Indexer instrument. For charging the instrument with the given sample, it has to have a particle size which is on the order of approx. 3-mm or less than that, so that it can be laden into the instrument’s barrel portion. So, the typical plastic pellets are a suitable particle size. The test involves plastic mass weighing that flows from the MFI over a time period. Some polymer samples have extreme high flow rates that the melt flow indexer method in those cases must be an automated system to find out reliable results. The thermoplastic resources can be calculated using the melt flow indexer method of analysis. Some of the examples of materials which are evaluated including Polypropylene, Polyamide (nylon), Polyethylene, Polyester, Polycarbonate, Polystyrene, and Other Polyolefin etc. The rates of Melt Flow are completely based on additives, molecular weight, along with other constituents. The original value of the instrument allows for direct comparison of the materials to each other & is really a valuable tool for the quality assurance.
