  2. Quehualliuthe most handsome of the tribe . • He was always picking up flowers for Pasancana, the beautiful daughter of the chief. • They played in the most beautiful places of the mountain.

  3. One day when they were older… • They fell in love, but Pasancana’s father wanted her to marry another boy in a different tribe. • Pasancana and Quehualliu began to cry when they heard about this. • They ran away together.

  4. The chief found out…… • He was so mad he got together some men • And went looking for them.

  5. Pasancana and Quehualliu were so tired they fell asleep…. • They were just going to sleep when they heard the men coming.

  6. Thanks to the light of the moon….. • The couple saw the men coming. They asked Pachamama– the goddess of the land to hide them. • She opened a hole in the mountain and hid • them there.

  7. The chief shouted “they cant hide forever”…. . He and his men stayed there all night. The next day the couple had changed into a cactus Quehualliu protected by Pasancana
