  3. Introduction (1) • After the deployment of NL units related to Luis and in Goma (1995) the need existed to develope a Disaster Assistance Relief Unit • Cooperation between FA and MOD • Development of : - (NL)DART Recce team (early ‘96) - DART (Humanitairian Relief) Unit - Army/Navy/Airforce

  4. Introduction (2) • All over the world (except artic conditions) • NTM:- (NL)DART 24 hrs- DART Unit 72 hrs • Duration of operation: max 6 weeks • Members in uniform and (if needed/required) personnel weapon • Equipment will be brought back to NL (in principel)

  5. Mission • On request to carry out humanitairian relief operation, anywhere in the world, untill this operation can be taken over by local authorities and or international organisations / NGO’s

  6. DART Reconnaissance team • Joint • Trained, vaccinated, NTM 24 hours • National, UN, NATO • All equipment fully stored • Transport by C130, KDC 10, Civil Ac • Tailor made (only specialists needed)

  9. Recce Equipment • 3 * Mercedes Benz ATV, 1 trailer • Europallets / boxes • Satcom B + C, M, HF, VHF, GPS, PC’s • 7 days self supporting (Class I / III) • Tents, generators • Weapons, (Glock, Diemaco) • ‘Nice to have’ equipment

  10. FOLLOW ON FORCE • Joint • Notice to move 72 hours • Partly vaccinated (last vaccination at departure) • Tailor made • Standard Unit Equipment • Deployment in principle 6 weeks

  11. FOLLOW ON FORCE (ARMY contribution) • Support element • Moveconteam • Road Transport element • Water purification assets (up to 60 m3 per day) • Medical element (incl surgical capability, to reinforce/enlarge [Field] hospital[s] ) • Engineer element

  12. FOLLOW ON FORCE (NAVY contribution) • Protection element Royal Dutch Marines (Force protection role) • Boat section with out-board motor • BandVagn (tracked amphibious vehicles with All terrain capability) • Medical element

  13. FOLLOW ON FORCE (Airforce contribution) • Air Transport capacity: • 3 * CH-47 CHINOOK or 5 * AS-542 COUGAR • 1 * C130H30 • F16 / Photo-recconnaisance (in Europe only) • Medical element
