  2. Satellite image of circular crop fields in Haskell County, Kansas in late June 2001. • Healthy, growing crops are green. Corn would be growing into leafy stalks by then. Sorghum, which resembles corn, grows more slowly and would be much smaller and therefore, (possibly) paler. Wheat is a brilliant gold as harvest occurs in June. Fields of brown have been recently harvested and ploughed under or lie fallow for the year. What is it?

What problems does agriculture present for other land users? • Uses vast quantities of land which developers might want - House builders, leisure purposes • Walkers and right of way users - Interfere with paths and access • Farming destroys some natural habitats • Hedgerows What is the major question here? Should we guard the environment or feed the people?
