  1. Understand the Rules of Playing Texas Hold’em Texas Hold'em, popularly known as Hold'em, is the most celebrated poker variation that is played by players worldwide. Played online, in casinos and poker rooms, this game not only offers an opportunity to win massive but also pushes the mental capabilities of the players. It is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. 2-10 players can play this game on a given poker table. Each player is dealt with two cards, also known as hole cards. After this, the first three community cards are exposed together which are known to be the flop. The next community card, which happens to be the fourth card, is referred to as the ‘turn’ and the fifth and final community card is known as the ‘river’. The Blinds The small blind and big blind are the two blinds in Texas Holdem. Blinds are forced bets required by two players to ensure that there are some chips in the pot worth playing for. The blind size determines the stakes of the game that players will be playing for. A player seated directly to the

The small blind is considered as the worst position at the table because the player in this position has to act first on every street. Pre-Flop – 1st Betting Round in the Game Four rounds of betting take place in the game. The first round of betting before a flop is known as pre-flop. In this round, players decide whether they want to check, raise, call, or flop, based on the strength of the first two-hole cards. Before we go further, let's understand the meaning of these actions to learn how to play Texas Holdem: ● Check: If you are in the big blind and no other player has raised before you, you can check. It means you move the action to the next opponent, without adding chips to the pot. ● Raise: The action of increasing the size of the current bet is raising. ● Call: When a player plays by matching the size of the current bet. ● Fold: When a player doesn’t want to play the game and decide to leave the game. The first round of betting is completed when all players have either checked, folded, called, or raised. To remain in the game, players have to put at least the same amount of chips in the pot. If a player made a bet, then other players choose to, call, raise, or fold, depending upon the strength of their cards. Flop – 2nd Betting Round in the Game After pre-flop, the first three community cards are exposed together (as mentioned above). Same as earlier, the second round of betting is completed when all players have either checked, folded, called, or raised. Turn – 3rd Betting Round in the Game The fourth community that is dealt with is the 'turn'. The gameplay progresses the same way it did in the previous betting rounds. River – 4th Betting Round in the Game After all the bets made in the 3rd betting round, the final community card i.e. ‘River’ is dealt. The players left with the cards go to a ‘showdown’. Showdown: After the last betting round, the remaining players compete against each other by forming the best five-card poker hand. Players can use any combination of the seven cards to make the best

In case there are identical hands, the pot is divided equally between the players. Let’s have a look at the popular variations of Texas Hold'em as per their betting limits: ● No-Limit Texas Hold'em: In this variant, players are free to bet any amount (all their chips). ● Limit Texas Hold'em: In this variant, there is a predetermined limit on each betting round. ● Pot Limit Texas Hold'em: In this variant, players are free to bet any amount but up to the pot size.
