  1. An Overview Of Online Poker Tournaments

  2. Introduction A tournament is a series of gaming events in which the participants compete against each other to win the winner’s title and the top prize. You can participate in a poker tournament in order to sharpen your knowledge and skills as well as to earn big profits. Texas Hold’em is the most popular poker tournament variant which is played all across the globe. All major international poker tournaments such as WSOP, WPT, EPT, etc are played in this format only.

  3. Online Poker Tournaments Online poker has become a craze among the masses in India. Many gaming websites are hosting highly lucrative online poker tournaments in which players can participate with affordable buy-ins. To play online, all you need is a gaming device such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc with an active internet connection. You can easily create an account on a poker site and start playing in no time.

  4. How To Play You need to register yourself to play the tournament by paying the buy-in (entry fee). Once registered, every participant receives an equal amount of chips to play with at the beginning of the tournament. Your objective is to reach the top position by winning all the chips in play and eliminating every opponent from the table. The last surviving player wins the game and gets the largest portion of the prize pool. If you are among the last finishers, you will get a share of the total prize pool on the basis of your finishing position.

  5. Types Of Poker Tournaments • SnG (Sit and Go) tournament - In this format, the game starts whenever the tables are full. There is no tournament starting time and you can join a table anytime you want. • Multi-Table Tournament - An MTT tournament always begins only at the scheduled time. A player needs to register himself first to play the game. • Rebuy Tournament - When you lose all your chips while playing, you can purchase more chips to remain seated on the table. There is a re-buy period and once it’s over, you cannot buy more chips. • Freeze-out Tournament - In this format, you cannot re-buy when you are out of chips. If you lose all your chips, you cannot play anymore, and you need to vacate your seat. • Re-Entry Tournament - If you get eliminated, you can register and enter again in the tournament as a new player by paying the buy-in. You cannot re-enter once the ‘late registration’ period ends. • Satellite Tournament - Qualifying tournaments which offer entry tickets for various major online or offline poker tournaments. The players who cannot afford participating in expensive tournaments, can participate in satellites with nominal buy-in and win a seat to the bigger buy-in tournaments as the prize.
