Fertilization • When the egg and sperm meet inside the fallopian tubes also known as conception but only the first sperm can get to the egg and then releases a chemical that doesn’t allow the other sperm to get to the egg cell.
The Zygote • After the conception the egg is called a Zygote its when all the cells multiply to form the Zygote and from that it implants itself to the uterus.
Embryo Fetus 12 weeks Firs movement Can swallow • In the third to fourth week the Zygote can be called an embryo, embryo is the mass of cells during the first eight weeks after the conception/fertilization. • All organs have begun to develop • Brain starts forming • Lungs start to form • Skin forming • Fingers, toes, and ears Fetus is the developing of cells from the eighth week of conception until birth.
First trimester • Head becomes larger. • Heart, brain, nerves, and lungs form. • Digestive system forms. • Eyes and ears can be seen. • Some movement begins. Embryo
Second trimester Fetus • Skin is developing • Weight is about 6 to7 ounces • Fetus moves vigorously • Rate of growth slows • Heartbeat increases
Third Trimester • Eyes open • Weight is about 3 pounds • Almost all organs are complete • Skin is smooth and polished • Eyes are slate colored
Birth Cesarean birth/ C section- surgical procedure when baby and placenta are delivered through and incision in the abdominal wall and uterus. Breach birth-when the baby is going through feet first. Water birth-birth done in warm water, benefits the mother and the baby. Still birth-when fetus died in the uterus and the remaining parts are still delivered Premature birth-birth of baby before it is fully developed.
