North-South, East-West MRT Lines: Completion of 11-Year Core Systems Renewal Programme Singapore's effective, reliable, and safe public transportation system, SMRT, has recently completed a multi-year program in close collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).It marks the culmination of a comprehensive renewal effort spanning 11 years, focusing on six core systems of theNorth-South and East-West MRT Lines (NSEWL). This renewal program has ushered in significant advancements in track infrastructure, train operations, and more, all seamlessly executed under the leadership of SMRT's Chairman and CEO, in collaboration with the LTA. Completion of 11-Year Core Systems Renewal Programme SMRT, in collaboration with the LTA, has successfully completed the renewal of six core systems on the North-South and East-West Lines. These include track sleepers, signaling systems, third rail, track circuit systems, power supply, and the fleet of trains. Condition Monitoring Features Equipped on Three Core Systems As per the renewal program, the complete replacement of wooden sleepers with concrete sleepers has been done under the supervision of expert repair professionals. The third replacement work was done in 2017 and the commissioning of the moving-block Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling system was already completed in 2018. Furthermore, modern-day monitoring features have been installed on the three remaining core systems, enabling preemptive detection of faults and issues. This proactive approach helps prevent train service disruptions, ensuring seamless journeys for passengers. Improvement of Signalling on NSEWL Significant improvements have been made to the signaling system across all six core systems, measured by the reliability performance metric known as Mean Kilometers Between Failure (MKBF). The East-West Line (EWL) has achieved a MKBF of 2,040,000 train km, while the North- South Line (NSL) has reached 1,652,000 train km. Complete Renewal of 1,100 Track Circuit Across the Network Another remarkable renewal work completed is replacing 1,100 railway tracks by adding a new CBTC signaling system, repairing broken tracks, and urgent replacement of old tracks with new ones. This track renewal work will reduce the risk of disruptions, indicate the position of trains, and enable a predictive maintenance regime. Introducing New 7th-Gen Alstom Movia R151 Fleet The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the contract for the R151 fleet to Alstom SA, formerly known as Bombardier Transportation. This contract entails the production and delivery

  2. of 106 new Alstom Movia R151 fleets to replace the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation NSEWL trains with the latest 7th generation fleet system. These new trains are equipped with sensors to monitor onboard subsystems and feature an Automatic Track Inspection (ATI) system for seamless monitoring of railway tracks and early fault detection.
