American Airline Difference is that American Airline is especially liberal with regard to award tickets, allowing changes to flight times, dates, carriers or class of service so long as the origin and destination remain the same, unless the change results in an outbound departure date within 21 days of the original booking (in which case a change fee of $75 applies).
Changes to an assign ticket’s origin or destination incur a $150 change fee. Canceling an award ticket is $150 for the first award, and $25 for each additional award reinstated at the same time for the same account. Award change and reinstatement fees are waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account. Depart on the same day, from and to the same airports, as your original flight, have the same number of stops, in the same airports, as your original flight, be marketed and utilize by American Airlines.
For earlier flight anyone can stand by, but only elite level members can stand by for a later flight the same day. Same-day flight changes and standby are subject to availability on select flights. Some special charges may apply by the airline according to market (for same day flight exchange) U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and the Caribbean changing flight fee is $75. Through New York and London Heath row the flight changing fee for same day is $150.
Same-day changes are $75-$150 in economy and free for business and first-class passengers on paid fares.
