TAD Weekly Highlights Discussion • Get into groups of three or four. • Look through the past week’s reading assignment in your copy of The American Dream. • Review Cullen’s quotes/quotations, anecdotes, and use of rhetorical devices in which you took note and responded. • Choose one of Cullen’s quotes/quotations, anecdotes, or examples of a rhetorical device from last week’s reading assignment and share it with your partner or group members. • This should take five minutes. • At the end of the five minutes, choose which classmate will share his or her highlights with the rest of the class.

9. Assessment Due Date: October 10, 2019 • Look through your dialectical journals from the past six weeks. • Create five questions that you would like to discuss during the Socratic Seminar that will be held on Friday, October 10, 2019. • Bring evidence (quotes, quotations, examples, anecdotes) from Cullen’s The American Dream as a springboard for each of your questions. • TOPIC: Is Cullen’s analysis correct: The American Dream is open to interpretation and is therefore not the original dream of the Founding Fathers? • This Socratic Seminar will count as a test grade. • Worth: 200 points
