FACTS ON THE LOUVRE • The latest addition to the Louvre was the glass pyramid entrance. • The Louvre sees 8 million visitors a year. • Many of the world’s most precious works of art are among the treasures of the Louvre. • The glass pyramid allows sunlight to come in on the under ground floor. • The Louvre holds the rich artistic heritage of the French people.

  3. FACTS ON THE LOUVRE. • The Louvre displays 35,000 works of art. The Louvre also has 334,940 works which are not on show. • The building itself is 800 years old. • The building is built in seven stages. • The immense museum has 2 courtyards and is 2 stories high. Since 1989,the large Pyramid has dominated the inner courtyard.

FACTS ON THE LOUVRE • The Louvre displays 35,000 works of art from eight curatorial departments. • The Louvre is enormous and you could easily spend a week to explore its exhibits. • The Louvre is the biggest and richest museum in the world. • In 1848 the museum became the property of the state.
