  2. Who did we speak with? • For our project, we interviewed 3 people holding executive positions in the sectors of: • Education; • Technology Research; and • Game Technology Development

  3. Why did we choose these people? • Our product is a communication productivity suite designed for hosting private networks. • Our chosen interviewees were each predicted to have high-demand needs in the areas of digital security as well as flexible content and process development. • We expect that each would be an ideal customer for our product. • All of them are from different countries.

  4. Pre-Interview Process • When preparing for our interviews, we distributed a specific itinerary to each participant so that they would have time to prepare answers if they felt it was needed. • We did not anticipate difficulties with the software used for the interviews and had great difficulty with recording.

  5. Pre-Interview Advice • Prepare an agenda and the questions before the interview and distribute to participants to allow them time to prepare their responses. • Perform a technology test at a scheduled time before the actual interview. • Ensure that any recording, documentation, or use is allowed.

  6. Interview Process • We asked a mix of questions to both confirm estimates and gather new information. Examples of questions included: • How important is the quality of communication to your line of work? • How often is the information you share sensitive? • What is your current perception of digital security? • What tools do you currently use to manage communication including, documents, presentations, and media?

  7. Interview Advice • Be receptive to answers and comments. • Be gracious of their time and behave promptly. • Adapt your process to work with the information the interviewee is providing. • Avoid surprising them with any tough points. • Do not challenge their opinions, rather, encourage them to expand where possible.(even if it stings)

  8. Post Interview Process • During the post interview, once conversation was more relaxed, we got the best material and information. • Collecting their language from listening to them was extremely helpful for communicating the pitch more clearly to their specific context. This discourse promoted further conversation and helped to build relationships.

  9. Post Interview Advice • Engage the interviewee to feel out their impression of the interview experience and confirm they are satisfied. • Ask if there is anything they would like to freely mention. • Write down the key points made into documentation as quickly as possible after leaving the interview. • Review and revise propositions quickly after receiving feedback.
