  1. PDR: 3/27/08 Pinwheel Technologies (C3) Heather Blaha Matt Fuxa Joey King Michael McConnell Domenic Tassoni

  2. Overview • Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine • Interchangeable Shaft

  3. Last Week’s Action Items • Circuit design and embedded intelligence • Decided on ‘slow drain’ circuit • Microcontroller input will be from ammeter

  4. Finish ordering parts Ordered all main components Missing: 1 bearing, 1 hand crank, nuts and bolts Last Week’s Action Items ctd.

  5. Current Status Step Three Step One Step Two ? Receive all necessary parts

  6. This Week’s Action Items • ‘Step Two’ • Finalize circuit logic

  7. Step Two • Order hand crank • 24” shaft, 12” square barstock, 6” shaft • Welded together, pinned to hub

  8. Step Two ctd. • Connect hub and shaft • Machine flats • Drill hole for clevis pin • Mount turbine • Drill holes in supporting struts • Plan the rest of assembly process. Execute as feasible.

  9. Circuit Requirements • Measure rpms from ammeter input • Alert when generator is operating at unsustainablespeed (max 10 A) • Slow drain battery

  10. Why not charge the battery? • Not out to prove technical feasibility of charging a battery • Slow drain will prove key deliverables • Mechanical functionality • Intelligence capability

  11. Updated diagram

  12. Conclusion • Can see a tangible product taking shape • Identify and execute remaining tasks • Next week: 100% identify, execute as much as possible
