  1. Latviešu tautas pasaka VĀRNA UN GULBISLatvianfairytaleTHE CROW AND THE SWAN

  2. Vārna noskatījusies, cik gulbis balts un skaists, un palikusi skaudīga. The crow became envious watching at the white and beautiful crow.

As soon as the swan fell asleep, then the crow flied up to him and slandered quite black.

When the swan awake again and saw its dirty wings.

Then he crawled again as white and clean as earlier.

The crow also wanted to be white ,but after bathing he stayed black and grey as befor.

  7. Tādēļ arī ļaudis saka: “Tāda vārna pērta, tāda nepērta.” Therefore people also say: “Such crow flogged, such not flogged.”
