  2. MISSION STATEMENT www.oasisorcutt.org The mission of the Orcutt Area Seniors in Service, Inc., is to provide social, educational and cultural opportunities for all adults over the age of 50 to help them preserve and improve their quality of life.

  3. WHO WE ARE www.oasisorcutt.org In 1984, the Oasis Senior Center opened its door providing services aimed at encouraging our members and all adults programs that enrich their lives and increase their knowledge and experiences. At the heart of our mission is the idea that the Center was created by seniors for seniors and run primarily through the involvement of seniors. Over 170 seniors volunteer their valuable time, energy and experiences; in 2012, Oasis Center volunteers provided over 12,350 hours of volunteer service, making this a place where Seniors Serve Seniors! Since the beginning we have been guided by the following principles: •To educate and encourage change in attitudes of the public at large regarding the status of all senior citizens in our community •To prevent conditions that may lead to senior citizens to a life of inactivity, loneliness, or being neglected or abused •To enhance the delivery, coordination and development of services for senior citizens and their families •To provide for ongoing community supportof senior citizens and senior services Oasis Pancake breakfast

  8. TODAY www.oasisorcutt.org The Oasis Senior Center is located on property owned by the Orcutt School District; however, as times change, the school district has developed a different and alternative use for the property. Situated in small modular buildings pieced together by patios and hallways; the Center is in desperate need of a new home. These two issues combined have required us to begin the process of planning, development, and the ultimate purpose of relocating to a new and larger OasisSenior Center.

  9. THE FUTURE – INVESTMENT & IMPACT www.oasisorcutt.org Senior Centers act as a gateway to the nations aging population, they are a community focal point and one of the most used services among older adults allowing older adults to access multiple services in one place. Research shows that older adults who participate in senior center programs can learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, mental and economic well-being. Your gift to the Oasis Senior Center Raising a New Oasis capital campaign will: • Provide greater access to surrounding neighborhoods as well as the City of Santa Maria • Expand current programs and activities such as our daily hot lunch program, support groups, exercise classes and numerous other activities • Serve more seniors, aging baby-boomers, and the community at-large • Provide more supportive programs designed to encourage healthy land active lifestyles From the beginning we have remained inspired and energized. We hope you will consider being part of our campaign and join us on this journey – Raising a New Oasis
