    1. The Certainty of God’s Future Judgment 2Thessalonians 1:5-10

    2. Persevering Faith Endures Persecution 2Thessalonians 1:4 therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.

    3. Genuine, Persevering Faith is “Counted Worthy” By God 2Thessalonians 1:5 This is a plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

    4. God is Just in His Treatment of All 2Thessalonians 1:6, 7 For after all it is only just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,

    5. God’s Retributive Justice 2Thessalonians 1:8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

    6. Future Judgment is Taught in Old And New Testaments Isaiah 66:16 For the Lord will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all flesh, And those slain by the Lord will be many.

    7. Those Who Disobey the Gospel Suffer Eternal Separation from God 2Thessalonians 1:9 And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

    8. Either Forever With the Lord or Forever Separated From the Lord 1Thessalonians 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.

    9. When We are Glorified, It Will Be His Glory In Us 2Thessalonians 1:10 when He comes to be glorified in His saints on that day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed-- for our testimony to you was believed.

    10. Applications Only a work of the Holy Spirit convinces people of future judgment and how to avoid it. We must leave vengeance to God. Common grace is only for now; those who abuse it will one day lose it forever.

    11. The Holy Spirit Brings Conviction John 16:7, 8 “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment.”

    12. Convicted of the Need for Atonement John 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; John 16:10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me; John 16:11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

    13. We Must Leave Vengeance to God Romans 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

    14. Common Grace Now Matthew 5:44, 45 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

    15. Unconverted Sinners, Enjoying Common Grace, Think Others are Worse Romans 2:3 And do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment upon those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?

    16. Common Graces Allows Time for Repentance Romans 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

    17. Now is the Time to Flee God’s Wrath Romans 2:5, 6 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to every man according to his deeds.
