  1. Understanding the Difference Cardiac Arrest Vs Heart Attack

  2. Heart Attack A heart attack occurs when a blockage in the coronary arteries restricts blood flow to the heart. It is caused by a blood clot resulting from plaque buildup. Symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, and discomfort in the upper body.

  3. Cardiac Arrest Cardiac arrest is the sudden loss of heart function, often due to an electrical malfunction. It leads to a cessation of blood flow, causing loss of consciousness, no breathing, and no pulse. Immediate medical intervention is crucial.

  4. Causes of Heart Attack Heart attacks are typically caused by atherosclerosis, a condition where plaque accumulates in the arteries, or by the rupture of a plaque, leading to a blood clot that blocks blood flow to the heart muscle.

  5. Causes of Cardiac Arrest Cardiac arrest can be caused by various factors, including underlying heart conditions (such as arrhythmias), drug overdose, electrolyte imbalances, severe trauma, drowning, or certain medical conditions.

  6. Response to Heart Attack A heart attack requires immediate medical attention. Call emergency services, and if available, chew and swallow aspirin to help reduce clot formation. Treatment may involve medications, angioplasty, or stenting to restore blood flow.

  7. Response to Cardiac Arrest Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency. Call emergency services and start CPR. If an automated external defibrillator (AED) is available, use it promptly. Early defibrillation is vital to restoring a normal heart rhythm.

  8. Relationship between Cardiac Arrest and Heart Attack While a heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest, not all heart attacks result in cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest can occur without prior warning and may have different causes, necessitating immediate action.
