  1. Aprilia bike Aprilia began outsourcing engines to the Austrian firm Rotax in 1985 for some models. The Aprilia bike 125 STX and 350 STX were introduced in 1985. The AF1, a compact sports model, and the Tuareg, were unveiled in 1986 by Aprilia; a large tanked bike for African rallies such as the Dakar Rally. Aprilia factory rider Philippe Berlatier battled for fifth place in the World Trials Championship and Loris Reggiani drove an Aprilia GP 250 with a Rotax engine to sixth place in the World Road Racing Championship.

  2. Superbike World Championship (SBK) In 1999, Aprilia joined the Superbike World Championship using a special homologated version of their RSV Mille V-twin road bike. They were seventh in the 2000 riders 'championship with rider Troy Corser, and seventh in manufacturers' points and fourth with Corser in 2001 and with Noriyuki Haga in 2002. At the close of the season, Aprilia retired from the programme.

  3. Grand Prix World Championship In the Motocross World Championship, Aprilia made her international racing debut riding in the 125cc class from 1976 to 1981 with the best result being a fifth place in the 1979 season with rider CorradoMaddi. The company then concentrated on the 1985 Grand Prix Road Racing World Championships and has had various successes since then. At the 1991 Czechoslovak motorcycle Grand Prix, Aprilia won their first world championship race, with rider Alessandro Gramigni winning the 125cc race.
