  2. Men are from mars and women are from Venus. This is an age-old adage to show the great disparity between the two genders. Women and men differ not only in their physiological make up, meaning how they look but also psychological make up, in terms of how they think. For starters, women feel complex emptions and events like pregnancy make them face situations that are beyond the arena of man’s emotional radar.

  3. Women and their psychological needs usually surpass that of men’s emotional needs. You must have heard the famous joke that if a man says, “I am fine”, he means it. A woman on the other hand means a million things by that one sentence. Women may not necessarily be straightforward enough about her needs. This causes a higher burden of psychological and mental health issues in women. Not only are the rates of depression higher, but even conditions like dissociative disorder, borderline personality disorder, trance possession disorder and post-traumatic disorder are relatively higher when compared to the other sex. Our society at times also adds to their psychological burden by the extreme expectation they have from women. Women play multiple roles and balance work-home front in multiple forms.

  4. But don’t consider the fairer to sex to be only weaker. Women’s resilience has been studied and showed fairly sustainable high in the face of adversity. Another example of this is the higher survivability of female foetus in the womb when compared with the male foetus. Women are truly a force to be reckoned with and all we need to do is to support them to get the best of the support. Seeking support for their mental health does not make them weak, but instead makes them stronger. Let’s normalise mental health for all, especially for the wonderful women in our lives.
