EUREKA – theFinnish Chair 2017-18 What is EUREKA? • Founded in 1985 as an intergovernmental initiative in support of global competitiveness of European industries • Over 40 members, including EU and associate members South Korea, South Africa, Canada, and (from June) Chile • Today, several lines of activities • Eurostars-programmetogether with EU since 2008 (Art-185) • Clusters (CELTIC+, EURIPIDES2, EUROGIA2020, ITEA3, and PENTA) – strategic PPP initiatives launched by major European industries • (Network Projects, Global Stars, Innovest, Umbrellas)

EUREKA – theFinnish Chair 2017-18 • Whatis Eurostars? • Eurostarsis the only European funding programme specifically dedicated to support R&D-performing SMEs in their collaborative R&D projects. • With its bottom-up approach, it stimulates international collaborative research and innovation projects that will be rapidly commercialised.
