  1. The good, the bad and the ugly: applying MatSOAP# in the real world (application in Clinical, Research and Teaching)Rasam Teymouri*, Stephen P Lake, Azzam F.G. Taktak, Anthony C Fisher Dept. Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Dept. Physics University of Liverpool Bespoke Software in Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering IPEM UCL 29th May 2012 * email rasam.aliazizi@liv.ac.uk Introduction MatSOAP application: Excel interface MatSOAP application: clinical, research, teaching, web-based applications any Time, any Where, any Place, any Device Taking MatSOAP a level higher, from web-based applications to MS Office, mobile and tablet apps. Making use of MatSOAP in Clinical practice, research and teaching. Connecting the user via simple SOAP calls to a powerful and sophisticated data processing resources at anytime. Involving the Diabetic Patient in their own care using an Internet-accessible Expert System relating risk of diabetic retinopathy to principal (covariates) risk factors over which the patient has some control • Rent knowledge and resources • From different OS • Use specialized software IDE – MATLAB, other tools • Accommodate large storage spaces for program and data - size and complexity Clinician MatSOAP Design and development of a technique that allows users to freely access, a novel Robust Fourier Series that efficiently recovers ERG signals contaminated with continuous and spontaneous noise, via MS Excel. Clients (often clinicians) require easy-to-use interfaces to sophisticated resources without the requirement of knowing the fine details of the implementation. Excel button click procedure call MatSOAP application: mobile app, Xcode Create a Excel -specific ID to hold data for later referral Get Excel ID Presentation layer is not tied to the logic layer this allows use of various devices and IDEs for complex analytical tasks while leaving the front-end light (thin). Upload Excel File Create a background MATLAB server if a long client session is required Call MATLAB Create a COM server application running the Microsoft Excel spread sheet program Check Server An interactive web-based GUI is used to demonstrate the application of a new software algorithm as part of the submission to a learned journal.
