John Lennon (1940-1980), was a founding member of the Beatles, the most popular group in the history of rock music. Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote most of the Beatles' music. Lennon also played rhythm guitar and piano, and sang (McLeese). During ancient times the Chinese people believed that heaven was the place where the souls of dead kings resided, and hell was for the souls of ordinary mortals. Both Buddhist and Daoist works depict heaven as "a blissful dwelling for souls of good people," and hell as "a fearful place where bad people are judged and tortured" (“Concept”).

5. Neal-4 The Winter Olympics include over 85 events. The games attract approximately 2,500 athletes from about 80 countries (Wallechinsky). Peace Corps is an overseas volunteer program of the United States government. Men and women in the Peace Corps work with people in developing countries to help them improve their living conditions (“Peace”).

They think that dreams ultimately are important for mental health (Wichlinski). The group behind the song “We Are the World” pledged to spend the money from song profits on long-term solutions to starvation. This money is being used to help feed the hungry in Africa and the United States ("RECORD'S”).

7. The German Nazis and their collaborators murdered 6 million Jews during World War II. In addition to rounding up Jews and shipping them to death camps, the Nazis also confiscated their possessions and stole their valuables, leaving little behind (Kornblum). 8. Neal-6 In the book Death of a Dreamer, Peters calls “Lennon’s murder an assassination, meaning ‘to murder (a usually prominent person) by sudden or secret attack, often for political reasons’. Lennon was political by the end of his life,” a dreamer of peace, and was shot by Chapman 4 times in the back outside his New York apartment because of his views (Peters). Michael Phelps, an American swimmer, ranks as “the most dominant and versatile competitor in the history of the sport. Phelps has set world records in five different individual events[and] set an Olympic Games record by winning 22 medals. His 18 gold medals is also an Olympic record” (Milbert).
