PlainBearing Plain bearing is simplest type of bearing ,comprising just a bearing surface and no rolling elements also known as specific styles bushing, journal bearings, sleeve bearing, rifle bearing. These bearings are mostly suited for high speed and high load Rollingelementbearings : A rolling-element bearing, also known as a rolling bearing,is a bearing which carries a load by placing round elements between the two pieces. The relative motion of the pieces causes the round elements to roll with very little rolling resistance and with little sliding. TYPE OF BEARINGS
TYPES OF ROLLING BEARING • Ball bearing • Roller bearing • Ball bearings are generally better suited for higher speeds and lighter load ,while roller bearings are used for relatively slower speed and heavier load. • Cylindrical roller bearings utilize cylinders with approx length/ratios ranging from 1.1 to 1.3 • Needle bearings have rollers whose lengths are at least 4 times their diameter.
DEEP GROOVE BALL BEARINGS The most popular types among rolling bearing. Radial load and axial load in both directions can be accommodated. Suitable for operation at high speed with low noise and low vibration. ANGULAR CONTACT BALL BEARINGS Angular contact bearing are common in applications involving heavy thrust load. single row angular bearings are good for thrust in one direction where double row angular bearings can carry thrust in either direction. BALL BEARINGS
SELF ALIGMENT BALL BEARING There are two sets of balls which run on a pair of grooves on the inner ring, with a single outer-ring concave surface. This allows the bearing to accommodate misalignment of the shaft. The self-aligning radial contact bearings are a popular choice in applications involving heavy load ,high speed and long bearing span but they can not withstand high thrust load. BALL THRUST BEARING composed of ball bearing supported in a ring, can be used in low thrust applications where there is little radial load. BALL BEARING
CYLINDRICAL ROLLER THRUST BEARING These bearings are suitable for arrangements that have to support heavy axial loads. Can only accommodate axial loads acting in one direction. Use of this type of bearing is limited to low rotation speed. CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARING Roller bearings typically have higher load capacity than ball bearings, but a lower capacity and higher friction under loads perpendicular to the primary supported direction. CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARING
NEEDLE ROLLER THRUST BEARING These bearing can accommodate heavy loads and shock load. these bearings provide a high degree of stiffness with in minimum space NEEDLE ROLLER BEARING These bearings are roller bearing with cylindrical roller bearing are small in diameter ,in spite of their low cross section Needle roller bearing have a high load carrying capacity and extremely suitable for bearing arrangements where radial space is limited . NEEDLE ROLLER BEARING
TAPER ROLLER THRUST BEARING Tapered thrust bearings include rollers that have conical sections. The bearing design ensures a true rolling motion for maximum bearing life and load-carrying capacity. TAPER ROLLER BEARING Taper are generally used in applications involving heavy radial and thrust load. The bearing is elements in rolling surface and raceways intersect at common point on axis. Taper roller bearing are generally mounted in pair ,one facing the other TAPER ROLLER BEARING
SPHERICAL ROLLER THRUST BEARING Spherical roller thrust bearings are ideal for applications where conditions include heavy loads, difficulties in establishing or maintaining housing alignment and problems with shaft deflection. SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARING Spherical roller bearings are inherently self-aligning and very robust. The two rows of rollers make the bearings able to carry heavy loads. These bearings are designed for heavy radial loads and moderate thrust . SPHERICAL ROLLER BEARING
JOURNAL BEARINGS • Journal bearings are commonly used in turbine, large fans, large pumps that operate at high speed and temperature. • These types of bearings utilize hydrodynamics lubrication ,which means that load carrying surfaces of bearing are separated by relatively thick film of lubrication that prevents metal to metal contact. • Journal bearings are coated with layer of white metal or Babbitt material ,serves as bearing surface.
TYPE OF JOURNAL BEARINGS • Cylindrical bearing. • Cylindrical bearing with grooves. • Elliptical lobe bearing. • Tilting pad bearing.
CYLINDRICAL JOURNAL BEARING • Cylindrical journal bearings are most common type of type of journal bearing used in industry. • It consists of cylindrical steel blocking plate with Babbitt bonded to inside bearing surface and the bearings are generally split into two halves for ease of assembly.
