Scoreboard • Program Goals: •Encourage athletes to get the highest GPA attainable •Introduce the value of an academic scholarships into their graduate portfolio •Engage the athletes to be more participatory in attaining higher results in the ACT/SAT •For some, create a new standard for academic acceptance >>> In many schools, there is an unrealistic perception that a student's 1.5 GPA is desired or acceptable when considering to apply to institutions that are nationally ranked in academics or sports. And if our athletes use this "just get by" mindset as a barometer, they run the risk of carrying the same mediocre standards into making life decisions with their relationships, employment performance, etc. * As long as an athlete is permissible by the school to participate as an eligible player, Game Changers will allow for the student to be a part of the program. However, to qualify for the Scoreboard segment; the following GPA must be attained.- The information on this page is not to be duplicated or used without the expressed permission of Game Changers|Leadership and Peer Mentoring Initiative. admin@thegamejustchanged.com

Educators call the hours between three and six in the afternoon the “danger zone” for young adolescents, because that’s when they can get into trouble—crime, teen pregnancy and substance abuse—without supervision or other healthy activities. It’s time for a brighter spotlight on the crucial middle years. It is essential that students have the necessary social and emotional supports, and access to rigorous and engaging academic work that promotes subject mastery while providing opportunities for exploration. Middle grade stu- dents need to see the connection between work and school, and need opportunities for engaging activities outside of school. Both inside the class- room and out, they need experiences to provide them the knowledge, skills and resources needed to succeed in high school, college, work and life. Master Presentation
