  1. Pythagorean Theorem By: Kierra Reber period 6 extra credit

  2. Definition The Pythagorean Theorem is the relationship between the sides of a right triangle.

  3. Formula The formula for the Pythagorean Theorem is: ASQ + BSQ = CSQ

  4. Discovery The first person to recognize the relationship between the two sides of a right triangle was a Greek mathematician named Pythagoras

  5. Hypotenuse The side opposite of the right angle.

  6. Legs The two sides that form the right angle. The legs are usually referred to as A and B.

  7. Use You can use the Pythagorean theorem to find any side of a right triangle.

  8. Example steps 1 and 2 If you leg A is 5in you square it and it is 25in. Then you take leg B that is 4in and you square it and it is 16in. ? 5in 4in

  9. Example step 3 The last step is to add the 25 and 16 together which is 41. Then you find the square root and it makes about 6.4. So that is the answer 5in ?=6.4 4in

  10. THE END!
