  1. Tips for Shipping, Exporting or Importing Perishable Cargo Shipping or transporting the cargo requires one to be careful, more so when you are shipping perishable food or anything else that won’t last for a long time. Most of the perishable goods are temperature sensitive and coordinating logistics of such food items isn’t always easy. It is the responsibility of the international freight forwarder to ensure that the goods stay fresh and reach its destination in good shape. There are a few things to be kept in mind for the smooth transportation of perishables and here we have mentioned those: Timing Matters Whether you ship via sea, road or air, remember the fact that perishable products have limited shelf life and so, you need to plan the shipment in a way that not much of its time is spent in transit. Also, take all the requisite measures to avoid any kind of unplanned delays. It is better to hire the services of freight forwarder who is reliable and has experience in seamless cold storage transportation. Find the Right Containers With perishables, there are higher chances of spoilage especially when the container in which these are transported is not right. For instance, reefer containers should be preferred for temperature- controlled shipping. Besides this, you should also opt for boxes that are strong and sturdy, thus protecting the food items from impact and pressure from other boxes on top. Whatever boxes you use, don’t forget to mark and highlight that the contents are perishables and so need special care. Use the Right Packaging

  2. Proper internal (inner) packaging is very important to protect perishables from spoilage; for food items that require to remain frozen or cool when they are out of the container, dry ice or frozen gel is needed to keep them cooled. You should check that it’s legal to send frozen packaging in the area to which you’re shipping. Not just this, but also add some materials such as bubble wrap or paper mesh for cushioning against the impact. Wrapping the goods in multiple layer is another option that offers better insulation from outside conditions. Maximize Space Utilization We have talked about the kind of containers and packaging, but apart from this, you also need to make sure that there is as little empty space as possible. In order for the things to cool down, it is important to have less space between solid items; you can get custom-design shipping boxes. Use Optimal Shipping Routes As perishables should have minimum transit time, choose the shipping route that allows the shortest stay in ports or warehouse before cargo gets moved to the final destination. A recognized freight forwarder is knowledgeable about the right route and effective manner possible. So these are a few tips for the transportation of items with limited shelf life, if you choose a good freight forwarder, you don’t have to worry about anything related to shipment as everything will be looked after him. In other words, all you have to do is find the right freight forwarder.
