Government • For approximately 500 years, the region was controlled by the Portuguese • In 1999, became a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China (like Hong Kong) "We've been watching Hong Kong for nearly two years," says Larry Ballew. "[Although there have been some changes,] they've maintained quite a bit of autonomy and freedom. We're not anticipating many changes in our work." The Ballews • Over 15 years of continued service • Now permanent residents of Macau • Considers Macau, home • Currently outreach pastoral staff at Macau Baptist Church • Offers 6 English classes a week at the church for service industry workers • Ministry of Relational Evangelism • “They will probably forget the English lessons we teach, but it’s the positive relationship experience that they will remember.” – Sarah Ballew

  12. Week 2: Activities in Xinhui • Engineering kites! • Build them with English Camp attendees on Saturday • Fly them on Sunday during picnic • Teaching English lessons • Body • Family • Friendship • Community • Assist in Games and Music • Testimonies

  18. Jesus and Xinhui In Xinhui • Many Chinese people have never heard of Him. • In our group, 50% had never heard the real Christmas story about Jesus • With the absence of religion and wealth, many hearts are open to hearing about Jesus
