HV Power Supply

HV Power Supply. Itzhak Tserruya HBD meeting, July 3, 2007. HBD gain from mips: short update. We used RB runs 237092 and 230661 to derive the gain from the scintillation hits. We are using the close by FB runs 237095 and 230665 to derive the gain from the mip peak.

  1. HV Power Supply Itzhak Tserruya HBD meeting, July 3, 2007

  2. HBD gain from mips: short update • We used RB runs 237092 and 230661 to derive the gain from the scintillation hits. • We are using the close by FB runs 237095 and 230665 to derive the gain from the mip peak. • Not yet there with the results. We shall have them next week.

  3. HV power supply: LeCroy or CAEN? • Do we want to stick to the LeCroy HV PS? • The massive trips and the subsequent GEM damage would have not occurred with the CAEN power supply (SY1527 & A1732). • The CAEN system is very flexible and allows a sophisticated handling of trip conditions. In particular, if an over current condition occurs in one channel: • the system can ramp down the HV to zero at a user defined rate. • other channels (which are not in over current) can be made to trip automatically. • Yes, I know that the CAEN costs app. $25K but this saving did cost us a lot more.
