What is High School Band? • Students who join the East Hall High School Viking Band program will be placed into one of three concert band classes that meet daily as part of the seven-period academic schedule. • Unlike middle school band, each of the three band classes is ability-based, and therefore, has a mix of 9th -12th grade students. Class placement auditions are held in the Spring to determine membership into the Concert Band (intermediate), Symphonic Band (advanced) or Wind Symphony (mastery). • All percussionists are placed in the Percussion Ensemble Class.

What are some of the benefits of participating in our award-winning band program? • 150+ instant friends, even before school begins • Gaining an identity by being a member of a smaller group in a school population of 1200 students • Being surrounded by the brightest, friendliest, and best group of students at EHHS • Gaining confidence in oneself and his/her abilities • Learning the value of teamwork and discipline • Establishing time management skills • Developing leadership skills being a part of a successful musical ensemble • Enjoying great seats at all EHHS football games • An exciting and wonderful high school experience • Fun, Fun, Fun!

East Hall High School Viking Marching Band • The award-winning East Hall High School Viking Marching Band is comprised of woodwinds, brass, Color Guard, and marching percussion (drumline/front ensemble) • The season begins with pre-season camp in mid-July and ends at the conclusion of the football schedule (early November) • The marching band performs at all football games, 3 competitions, and annual parades. • All members of the marching band must be enrolled in a band class (Guard/8th grade excused)

  14. East Hall High School Concert Bands The East Hall HS Concert Band Program is comprised of three concert bands and a percussion ensemble. These groups meet daily during the Fall and Spring semester and will perform 3-5 concerts throughout the school year. Each ensemble will also receive ratings at our annual Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) 2019-2020 Class Schedule 1st period- Planning2nd period- Concert Band (Intermediate Band)3rd period- Symphonic Band (Advanced Band)4th period- Percussion Ensemble (Intermediate Instrumental Ensemble)5th period- Wind Symphony (Mastery Band)6th period- EHMS7th period- EHMS

East Hall High School Viking BandColor Guard • The East Hall Viking Color Guard is comprised of the most talented young men in women dedicated to performing at the highest level of the pageantry arts. Our Color Guard has a tradition of excellence consistently receiving superior ratings at marching band competitions. • This group is auditioned during the spring semester for the following school year. • A strong Color Guard is absolutely essential to any successful marching band season! • Potential for Winter Guard program. East Hall High SchoolViking Band Parents Association • The East Hall High School Band Parent Association (BPA) is dedicated to supporting the students, directors, and the overall program in providing a world-class music education for our students. Strong parent and community support is vital to a successful band program. Hall County Marching ExhibitionSeptember 24, 2019 • East Hall High School will be hosting the annual Hall County Marching Exhibition at East Hall Stadium on September 24th, 2019 (6:30pm) This event is meant to showcase each high school marching band in Hall County while providing feedback before competition season. • All members and families are needed to volunteer in order to make this event a success!
