  3. Drug addiction • Drugs = substances that influence a psyche • 2 categories: soft x hard • Soft drugs: alcohol, cigarettes, cannabis, hash, glue, sedatives… • Hard drugs: ecstasy, speed, cocaine, opium, heroin… • Symptoms: red eyes, small pupils, slow movements, smile, hallucinate…

  4. HIV(Human Immunodeficiency virus) • Slowly replicating retrovirus • AIDS (the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) • Loss of immunity • Worldwide problem • Transfer: • By blood • Unprotected sexual intercourse • From mother to child • CZ 2012: • 1875 infected – HIV • 364 infected – AIDS • 186 die

  5. Xenophobia • Fear of all unfamiliar • Opinions by an authority, lack of information • Ideologies, propagandistic actions • The Czech Republic: • 2013 – 48% people – so many foreigners • Rom

  6. Racism • People of some races are lower than others • Romantic period • Republic of South Africa

  7. Homelessness • People without a regular flat • Alcoholics, users of drugs, psychical illness • Organizations in the Czech Republic: • Naděje, Armáda spásy, Nový prostor • 2007 – 2000 homeless in Prague • 3 types: evidently, hidden, potential

  8. Minorities • Problems: • Majority want to assimilate them – Concept of laws of minorities • Organized minorities – threaten integrity of state • 4 types: • Ethnic minority • National minority • Religious minority • Language minority • In the CZ: Vietnamese, Polish, Romany minorities
