Overall Study Tips • Attend every class • Keep up • Work: For each class hour need • 15-20 minutes reviewing previous material • 60-90 minutes homework • 15-20 minutes previewing new material • Be a good listener • Take good notes • Ask specific questions • Practice until homework problems are routine

  3. Preparing For An Exam • Do not cram • Do not memorize • Strive to maximize understanding of the concepts • Know important definitions, theorems, and methods and how to apply them • Make and take a practice test • Strive to “second guess” the exam questions

  4. Taking An Exam • Do the simple things first • “Be quick but don’t hurry” • Strive to answer every question • Don’t spend to much time on any one question • Show all work • Check for careless errors • Be rational • Relax • “Success comes from the peace of mind of knowing that you have given it your best”
